Separate application for finishing your studies, spring 2023

Application period: from 2 January 2023 8 am to 15 May 2023 11:45pm

With this form, you can apply for a new right to study for the purpose of completing an unfinished degree if you have lost your right to study and your remaining period of study would not be sufficient to complete the unfinished degree. You may have lost your right to study due to your failure to register in an academic year, expiry of the right to study, or having formally withdrawn. The process is open to applicants who have completed at least 150 ECTS credits’ worth of studies at Diaconia University of Applied Sciences and it has been a maximum of 10 years since the losing of their study entitlement counted from the application date.

The application forms will be taken into processing within 14 days of its receipt. Admission decisions are based on the information given in the application, the motivation letter and an interview, if applicable. If an interview is required, the invitation will be sent to the email address given in the application.

The admission decision will be taken by the Vice Rector. The applicant will be notified of the decision by email to the address given by the applicant. In addition, the results are published in the Opintopolku.fi online service. Offers must be accepted by 7 days from the day the result has been published via the Opintopolku.fi online service.

In the separate application process, the applicant may be granted a new right to study for the purpose of completing the unfinished degree. The new right to study is granted for the current curriculum and for a period based on the number of missing credits. In the calculation, applicants are expected to complete 30 ECTS credits’ worth of studies per semester.  Students who are admitted via this application process are not eligible to register as non-attending or request a discretionary extension. Not all completed studies are automatically transferred or accepted for credit towards the degree. Therefore, the number of ECTS credits required for completion of the degree can be higher than the number of missing ECTS credits.

The new right to study can only be granted for the same degree programme and in the same language as previously attended. Your new right to study may start during the same semester, if you are able to proceed in your studies taking into account the study modules offered during the semester. Otherwise, the new right to study will be effective from the start of the next semester.

If you have fewer than 150 ECTS credits completed at Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, you can supplement your credits by taking study modules in the open university of Diaconia. Open UAS study modules are subject to the current Open UAS fees.
